Yesterday my fiancé and I celebrated eleven months in New York City. Time flies even during a pandemic, and now it’s official – I’ve experienced all four seasons since moving from the sunshine state to the big apple last September. While I was convinced that I would miss Florida’s tropical weather, that has not been the case… You might ask: how come? Because the forecast has read 90+ degrees more times than I had anticipated.
One of the silver linings of this unprecedented “summer in quarantine” has been spending time with B. I’ve mentioned before that during our relationship, we endured about a year of long distance while he finished his mater’s degree. Now, after spending the last four months sheltering together inside of our apartment, I can honestly say that I prefer this over not seeing him for weeks at a time.
With gatherings limited and travel restricted, we got creative: we ordered take-out once a week (mostly Thai or Greek food), enjoyed cocktails in the terrace (almost every night), rode bikes around the city, watched tons of Netflix series (we both enjoyed “The Spy” and “Unauthorized Living”), took the pups on longer walks, and handled lots of wedding tasks.
I love the conscious process of slowing down on a daily basis, and of admiring the beauty around me (something that I credit my older dog for teaching me more than seven years ago). The extra free time that we’ve been gifted with during this pandemic, has allowed me to practice more of that. And just because Summer 2020 has been different in more ways than one, it doesn’t mean we can’t get creative and do more of what we love.
Earlier this month, I was browsing online for blue summer outfits for an upcoming trip that we have, and came across this open back blue dress, and this ruffle midi dress. Although both have the perfect length and shade of blue, I ended up choosing the latter.
We spent the weekend in Connecticut and Rhode Island. We loved being outside of New York City for a few days, we relaxed and explored a bit with our two pups. One of my favorite parts of the trip was visiting a small farm filled with sunflowers! I am wearing Song of Style Midi Dress for a chic summer look.
Happy Thursday, friends! Even though this 4th of July will be a little different, I will definitely be wearing red, white and blue! Last year we spent this holiday with his family, his aunt did a big cookout by the pool. This year we will quarantine ourselves, grill on the terrace around sunset, and try to get ahead on our wedding planning tasks (he needs a tux!).
It was 90 DEGREES in New York City today! The season of maxi dresses and lightweight clothing is totally here. After living in Miami Beach for the last ten years, you could say I have become an expert at finding the most comfortable ‘summer’ pieces. This dress is the perfect example!
H&M has become one of my go-to destinations for trendy pieces at attainable prices. This retailer also carries the cutest headbands that I like to pair with my outfits (I’ve purchased six in the last few months!).
What caught my eye about this dress was the color and the fabric. It’s a calf-length dress in double layers of cotton fabric with a crinkled texture. In a few months, once the temperatures start to drop again, we can style this dress with a denim jacket.
I completed my look with mint green heels, and this headband (lilac and green) that helped me tie the whole look together. If we could travel right now, this look would definitely be coming with me!
Happy first day of summer everyone! I can no longer say that I miss Miami’s warm weather… it’s been in the high 80s all week! While my fiancé is with his dad celebrating father’s day weekend, I have been at home catching up on sleep, and doing wedding planning!
Since summer is already here, I thought I would share a round up beautiful swimsuits to wear this season. This one-piece swimsuit that I am currently loving is also available as a bikini, I will link both styles at the bottom of this post. 🙂
