Swim Week 2016

Funkshion – July 2016

I love that Swim Week takes place in Miami Beach!  Miami is sunny, vibrant & gorgeous – in my opinion, it is an unbeatable location.  Miami is also one of the few cities of the world where you can wear a swimsuit 365 days a year.  What is “Funkshion”??   It’s a four day event for emerging and innovative designers to showcase their latest designs on catwalks set-up in beautiful locations around Miami Beach.

This year’s runway shows took place at The W Hotel, the 1 Hotel, the Faena Hotel, The Setai, the Nautilus Hotel or inside the Funkshion Tent.  Attendees had the opportunity to see the collections from Kyboe!, Aguaclara, For Love & Lemons, Maaji, Lee and Lani, Lila Nikole, Tori Praver, Luli Fama, Anna Kosturova, Beach Riot, Sinesia Karol, and Keva J.  There were about four shows per night, and the ones that I attended were packed.  I took these images while waiting backstage for one of the runway shows to start…  I have also uploaded two videos on my Instagram, have you seen them??  If not, click here.

Barcelona Fashion Week │ SS17 Recap

Happy Monday!  Hope that you enjoyed each designer that I shared with you last week!  Below I have rounded up four more fashion labels from the 18th Edition of Barcelona Fashion Week that I thought had creative and attractive look-books.  And with today’s post I am concluding my posts on Spanish & Catalan designers that showcased their SS17 collections earlier this month in Barcelona.  I also hope that you enjoyed learning about the Spanish fashion industry.  Catalonia and the city of Barcelona have a long tradition in the textile industry, and my appreciation for it began while I was pursuing my graduate studies in the city.  I quickly fell in love with the culture, the food, the warm atmosphere, and the fashion scene..  Take a look below, and let me know your thoughts!

Spring – Summer 2017

“Rhythm & Blends”

Here are my favorite looks from Sita Murt’s SS17 collection!  Sita Murt was a Catalan fashion designer that created a fashion label focused on soft and sensual fabrics.  Her SS17 lookbook was showcased last night during the second day of Barcelona Fashion Week.  As usual there were a variety of textured fabrics that included knit, thin crepe cotton, and linen.  The predominant colors were indigo blue, water blue, turmeric ochre, goji red and a citric touch which overruns our most natural tones as white, ecru and linen.  Overall every outfit looked relaxed, delicate and with an emphasis placed on providing comfort for the modern woman.  Enjoy!

Spring – Summer 2017

Five words: Barcelona Fashion Week is here!  I am so excited!!  This is my fourth year sharing with you my appreciation for Spanish & Catalan designers, and this entire week I will be featuring one or two designers per day.  I am starting with Justicia Ruano who showcased her latest Spring – Summer collection today during the first day of the 18th Edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion.  The event took place at INEFC in Barcelona.  Justicia Ruano is easily one of my favorites, her creations are luxurious, feminine and gorgeous!!  Each of her pieces are quite sophisticated yet modern at the same time.  By mixing textures, materials and colors she creates extravagant looks.  She successfully reinvents contemporary luxury year after year, and never disappoints me.  Take a look below!

Primavera – Verano 2017

Barcelona Fashion | MODAFAD SS16

Today is the last day of Barcelona Fashion Week.  Tonight’s last runway show gave emerging designers a chance to show their creations.   Each edition of Project “T” is dedicated for the presentation of the best clothing design projects from the fashion design schools in Spain.  An international jury chooses the best designer (MODAFAD Gold Award), and the best collection (MODAFAD Silver Award).  Some of the winners were: Adria Doy, Andrea Fernandez Tessi, Evelina Martirosyan, Gina Lopez Mateos, Laura Alberti, Lizbeth Ceballos, Maximo Pronio, Veronica Gil & Samuel Alarco {check out a few of their looks below!}.

The pieces below I thought were absolutely unique & incredible, and that is why I am sharing them with you.  There is so much creativity and detail in each outfit.  Hope that you enjoy them as much as I did!  Until next February!

Barcelona Fashion | Menchen Tomas SS16

The SS16 collection that I will focus on from tonight’s fashion show at 080 Barcelona Fashion is MENCHEN TOMAS.  MENCHEN TOMAS was founded in 1995 by two designers, Olga R. Menchen and Francesc G. Tomas.   From their runway show at 080 Barcelona Fashion, I could not pick just four, so I picked twelve!  Pastel pink, light blue, red and white are the prominent colors of their SS16 collection.  Gold accents highlight a few pieces, but sheer and textured fabrics are predominant.  I am a big fan of everything so feminine, so I love it.  Enjoy!

42nd Argentina Fashion Week

javier saiach

Today I am sharing with you a South American fashion designer, Javier Saiach.  While looking through haute couture magazines, I discovered his elegant & feminine designs, and completely fell in love with them!!!  Javier Saiach started his career at the age of 23.  Although he was born in Corrientes, Argentina, he moved to Paraguay after finishing high school.  A few years after arriving to the city of Asuncion, he launched his first haute couture collection.

The dresses from his Fall / Winter 2015 collection are incredibly gorgeous.  What do you think??  Xx

Barcelona Fashion | MODAFAD FASHION AWARDS 2014

One of the coolest parts of 080 Barcelona Fashion takes place during the last day of Barcelona fashion week, the MODAFAD Fashion Awards.  MODAFAD is about promoting young designers, launching them at the international level, and fostering relationships between design schools and the fashion industry.  Each edition of “Project T” allows emerging fashion designers to showcase their unique creations to the world.  How neat is that?!?  “Project T” gathers the best students in fashion design, holds a runway show, and then an international jury selects the ‘best designer,’ the ‘best collection,’ and the ‘special Mention of the year.’   Below I am sharing a few outfits from this edition of Modafad Awards.  Check them out!
