Here’s the afternoon tea for two that is served at the Morgan Cafe inside The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City

Last year, I visited the Morgan Library with my mom and my baby, who was still happily riding along in her stroller and content to take it all in.
Fast forward to last weekend, when we returned with my husband and our now-two-year-old for Afternoon Tea at The Morgan Cafe.

Morgan Cafe
The Morgan Library & Museum is located in Midtown in New York City, and was built between 1902 and 1906 as the personal library of banker J.P. Morgan.

Morgan Library Afternoon Tea Menu
The Afternoon Tea at the Morgan Cafe has a set menu. You can select your tea, but not the food.
- Afternoon Tea includes: Tea Sandwiches, scones, deviled eggs, macarons, opera cake, grapes, and Harney & Sons teas.
- Tea selection: You’ll get a pot of tea with English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Turmeric Ginger, Assam, Japanese Sencha, Chamomile, or Paris Mint tea.
Scones & Sandwiches:
Our two-year-old devoured the macaroons; my husband enjoyed the deviled eggs, the cake, and the cranberry-orange scones; and I found the sandwiches to be delicious.
Tea & Tea Selection:
I loved the tea! The tea selection featured Harney & Sons, a brand I already enjoy at home, so it was nice to enjoy a familiar favorite. I picked English Breakfast tea, and my husband chose Paris Mint tea.
Cost:
- $88 for 2 people.
- The menu and prices may change at any time.
- Wine and Champagne are available for an additional cost.
Setting:
The Morgan Cafe offers a casual dining experience in a glass-enclosed central court with plenty of natural lighting. I personally think it’s a beautiful space!

Is the Morgan Cafe family-friendly?
If you’re wondering whether afternoon tea at the Morgan Library is kid-friendly, I was pleasantly surprised by how many families were there.
A third of the tables had a child under the age of five, so we certainly weren’t the only ones navigating tea service with a little one in tow!
We also ordered a plate of gnocchi for our toddler, who was more excited about having her own bowl of pasta than participating in afternoon tea traditions 🙂
A final note!
Afternoon tea is rarely a budget-friendly activity in New York City, so I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced the Morgan Library’s tea service was compared with other options around the city.
