Apple Picking near NYC
Welcome Autumn! One of our favorite fall activities is going apple picking and then preparing an apple crisp or apple tart. If you need a quick and easy apple tart recipe, this one requires only 10 minutes of prep time!
We went apple picking near NYC this month and had a wonderful time! We came home with a bag full of delicious autumn crisps!

Best time to go apple picking near New York
Apple-picking in the Northeast begins in September, but you might find some farms that are ready to welcome people by mid-August. The season usually lasts until mid-October.

We decided on Orchards of Concklin, the same farm we visited last year in Pomona, NY. It worked out well for us last year with a baby, so we knew what to expect now with a walking toddler.
At Orchards of Concklin, you can pick your own apples and shop at their farm stand or on-site bakery.
Cost
There is no admission fee to the farm. Every person entering this orchard is required to purchase a 1/2 peck bag ($16), and children under 3 enter free. A peck bag is $32, and 1/2 bushel is $60. You pay before entering the orchard. Pets are not allowed on the farm.
We paid $32, and our toddler entered the orchard for free.

SHOP: my gingham dress or her bubble romper
We took the opportunity to capture fall family photos during our visit to the orchard because the backdrop was so beautiful. It was fun recreating last year’s photos with our baby, who is now walking! Our daughter had a great time and giggled every time she held an apple in her hands.
This was our second consecutive year at Orchards of Concklin, and we plan to return next fall.
