HAT / TOP / JEANS / WEDGES / SUNGLASSES / LIPSTICK
Hey ladies! There are floppy hats, felt hats, fedora hats, boater hats, straw hats and many others … which should you buy!? The BEST part about hats is that you can wear them all year round. For example, a basic floppy hat like mine can be worn during all four seasons. Hats are one of my favorite accessories, they add a ton of personality, can sharpen your appearance, and are a great final touch to many outfits. Many friends tell me that they cannot find a hat that fits them (I used to think that way too!), but the secret is finding one that is flattering for your face shape. Also, the size of the hat matters, if you want to look chic then it is always best to find one that is proportionate to your face, head and body.
If you are one of those persons that has completely given up on hats, it’s time to leave that thought in the past and jump on the hat wagon with me! Let’s begin!!!
There are 4 main face shapes: (1) Round, (2) Square, (3) Heart, and (4) Oval.
You need to determine your face shape by paying attention to the following: the length versus the width of your face, the widest part of your face, and the shape of your jawline. Grab a mirror and take a look at those three things.
- If you have a round shaped face: the length and the width are the same, your chin is round and you have full cheeks. The ideal hat for you is a fedora, because of its height, it can elongate your face and add asymmetry to it. Keep in mind that hats with a round crown will accentuate the roundness of your face.
- If you have a square shaped face: the length and the width are also the same. The floppy hat is ideal because it will help you round out your features and soften the angles of your jawline. Any other hat with a round crown will smooth the edges of a square face. You can also try on the beret, or the sunhat, and even the cowboy hat.
- If you have a heart shaped face: the chin area will be pointy and the narrowest part of the face, and the forehead area is likely broad. The ideal hats for you are the beanies, the fedoras, and the boater hats. Most hats will look good on this face shape except those with large brims that will accentuate your narrow chin.
- If you have an oval shaped face: the angle of your jawline is a bit round, and your forehead is larger than the jawline. Practically any hat will look great, so go ahead and try them all on! Lucky! You can pick one based on your preferences and personality.
So, Yes! You can wear a hat. In my opinion there are two types of hats that you really can’t go wrong with: (a) the floppy hat, that I am wearing here, and (b) the traditional Panama style hat. The first one is ultra feminine, and the second one is perfect for a chic look…
I love creating these posts with styling tips, and always get awesome feedback on them. I hope that this post inspires you to find a hat that looks great on you!! 🙂
Have a wonderful week! Lots of love…
P.S.: Here is another floral Off The Shoulder Blouse (from the same brand), that will look great with a black floppy one!! Any floral top with a black background will match perfectly because it will pick up the color of the hat, here is another one.
