Hudson Yards is New York City’s newest neighborhood, a luxury multi-million-dollar complex full of apartment buildings, The Shops at Hudson Yard, The Shed, The Vessel, and the newest observation deck in the city, The Edge. The 150 feet high sculpture, The Vessel, opened up on March 15, 2019, and while it is temporarily closed, you can still explore the area around it during your next visit to New York!
VISITING THE VESSEL AT HUDSON YARDS
- There are multiple ways to arrive at Hudson Yards. The 7 Train can take you from Midtown (Grand Central, 5th Ave or 42nd Street Times Square) straight to Hudson Yards. You can also walk to the area by walking on The High Line.
- It is located between 30th and 34th street, and between 10th and 11th avenue, in the heart of Hudson Yards, New York City’s newest neighborhood.
- The Vessel is a spiral staircase, comprised of 154 interconnecting flights of stairs (almost 2500 individual steps), and 80 observatory platforms.
- Visiting The Vessel is free, however, on January 14, 2021 it closed indefinitely.
Recommendation: After visiting the area of Hudson Yards, walk over to The High Line, a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park created on a former New York Central Railroad on the west side of Manhattan.
VISITING THE EDGE OBSERVATORY DECK
- The Edge is the highest outdoor deck in the Western Hemisphere.
- 360-degrees of New York City’s skyline, featuring a glass floor, angled glass walls and a Champagne Bar.
- The Edge is located on Level 100, a high speed elevator will take you up in 52 seconds.
- Hours: 10AM – 10PM daily. The last elevator ride is 50 minutes before closing.
