After extensive conversations with my sister, sister-in-law, and mothers in a mom’s group that I am in, I created a list of items that I wanted for our baby!
Now, after four weeks of testing these products, here are the five items that we love using, and two that we look forward to trying soon!
5 Baby Essentials We Love
Stroller: We opted for the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 which is one of the highest-rated strollers in the market. I was looking for a top-quality stroller capable of surviving the bumpy streets of New York City. It starts as a single stroller, can easily transform to accommodate up to three children, and everyone told us it will last us many years. We are currently using the bassinet that came with the stroller, and it’s been fantastic.
Baby Monitor: We have the Owlet Dream Duo 2, the only baby monitor to track heart rate and oxygen as Sleep Quality Indicators, and put it on her foot every night. Spending 49 days in the NICU was stressful, so this monitor has provided us peace now that our baby is at home with us!
Nursing Pillow: I have been using the Brest Friend Nursing Pillow which has a wraparound design that clips around your waist, an adjustable strap, enhanced lumbar back support, and a thick firm cushion to hold the baby. This nursing pillow is super comfortable, keeps the baby in place, and protects my C-section incision area. I tried several nursing pillows, returned them all, and kept this one. The cover can easily be washed in the washing machine – a major plus!
Bath Support: Many moms we know recommended Angelcare Baby Bath Support which is inexpensive, and ideal for babies due to its soft ergonomic design, and quick dry material. I chose white, but it’s available in pink and blue also. Washing a newborn is not easy, so this has been helpful to us – I highly recommend it.
Baby Nail File: These nail files are made of real glass, and are perfect for babies. We bought several and began using them while our baby was in the NICU. Filing a newborn’s nails is important, to keep them from hurting their delicate face, and from scratching you while breastfeeding. These glass nail files are super effective and the most gentle option available!
Here are two more items that I feel will become essentials for us very soon!
Baby Carrier: We decided on the Omni Breeze carrier because it is the lighter version of the previous Ergo Baby carrier and made with breathable mesh.
Baby Playpen: I added this 47″ Baby Playpen With Mat to our baby registry because it has a gate. We have dogs, and I want them to be around the baby while the baby is in a pet-free zone! This playpen is useful and will give any mom peace of mind.
