The Best Apple Orchards Near NYC
As soon as autumn arrives, I welcome all the little things that make the season so special: a pumpkin spice latte, a warm cider donut, or homemade apple pie.
But one of my favorite fall traditions is going apple picking. Over the years, we’ve visited quite a few apple orchards around New York City and the surrounding area. This year, we were especially excited to go apple-picking with our baby for the first time. Since she is still little, we decided to look for a smaller farm than the ones we’ve visited in previous years.

Apple Orchards Near New York City
Here are the best apple orchards we’ve visited near New York City, along with what we’ve loved about each one, and others that we’ve heard great things about and hope to visit in the future!
FISHKILL FARMS
Although Fishkill Farms is over an hour’s drive from New York City, we think it’s well worth the trip!
It’s a 270-acre apple orchard and vegetable farm located in East Fishkill, New York, with a large farm store where we picked up lots of goodies to bring home.
Reservations are required to participate in pick-your-own.

DEMAREST FARM
If you are looking for fresh apple cider donuts, make sure to visit Demarest Farm, just 25 miles from New York City. In our opinion, they have the best donuts around!
We’ve also visited their petting zoo, which is a fun addition if you are going with kids. And we never leave without stopping at their store to pick up fresh food to bring home or enjoy in their outdoor area!

ORCHARDS OF CONCKLIN
This is the first orchard we visited this season. Located in Pomona, about forty miles from New York City, it was a great way to kick off our apple-picking season.
We loved the apples we picked here, and I used five of them to make my favorite apple tart! The apple trees are just a short walk from the parking area, which was perfect for us with a baby.
Parking is free, and there is no admission fee to enter the orchard.

WARWICK VALLEY WINERY, DISTILLERY & ORCHARD
Less than one hour from New York City, you will find more than 120 acres of orchards, gardens and pollinator preserves surrounded by breathtaking Hudson Valley views.

APPLE DAVE’S ORCHARD
We visited this orchard in September 2019, and also in 2021, and both experiences were AMAZING.
One thing we noticed, however, is that when you go during apple-picking season can make a difference. Our earlier visit was much more relaxed, while during our second visit we arrived later in the afternoon when the orchard can get extremely busy.
We also brought both of our dogs with us on each visit to Apple Dave’s Orchard. The second time, we had to take a ride out to the apple trees, which was a little tricky with two big dogs, especially since one of ours was blind. But because she loves apples and enjoys being outside in the fresh breeze, we always bring along. It was still a wonderful day, but if you are planning to bring your dog, it’s something to keep in mind when deciding to visit.
Parking is free, and there is a $5 admission fee per person.
