Travel | Where to Stay in Washington D.C.

After visiting Asheville, N.C., and Charlottesville, VA, we decided to make a very quick stop in Washington D.C. before our final destination. It’s been twenty years since the last time that I visited the capital of the U.S.! We are travelling with my two pups, so I wanted to stay at a pet-friendly hotel in a serene area in close proximity to downtown D.C. Kimpton Glover Park Hotel is located in Upper Georgetown – a beautiful, walkable neighborhood near Embassy Row – it was ideal for us!

Kimpton Glover Park Hotel, is the perfect place to stay at when travelling with pups!! The hotel staff was wonderful, they brought two beds to our room for my dogs to sleep on, water bowls, toys, and leashes. It’s always so nice to find a hotel that welcomes my girls. Kimpton hotels are all pet friendly, they charge no pet fees, and have no restrictions. I have been a huge fan of this brand of hotels for years because of this!

As well as the incredible location, beautiful contemporary decor and fabulous staff, the cuisine at Casolare Ristorante + Bar was a real highlight. I ordered the chicken parm with a side of creamy herb polenta (quite possibly the best polenta I’ve ever tasted!). The Italian dishes are prepared by Chef Michael Schlow who was named “Best Chef in the Northeast” by the James Beard Foundation. If you are in the area, this restaurant is absolutely worth trying.

After our late dinner, we relaxed and watched the movie “True Grit” in our room. The rooms at Kimpton Grover Park Hotel have flat screen TVs with on-demand movies and cable.

The following morning, we enjoyed the warm tea and coffee service that is offered daily in the lobby of the hotel. Then we walked around Georgetown, and visited some of D.C.’s most iconic monuments before continuing to NYC. I can’t wait to visit again!!
