Hello everyone! New York City is currently covered in snow!
Winter Storm Gail passed through the northeast area of the country just a few days ago! The storm brought New York City between 8-12 inches of snow overnight – more snow than all last winter!
Surprisingly, this Florida girl has been enjoying it! Let me remind you that I have been living in New York since late 2019… and this is my second winter in the city so I feel that I am now better prepared for the low temperatures!
Having the right gear is key, and this long teddy coat has been a favorite! What city are you guys in, and what is the weather like over there?!

Is Top of the Rock worth it?
If you are looking for one of the best observation decks in New York City, be sure to head over to Rockefeller Center! After living in the city for the last fourteen months, I finally made it up here! Of all the observatory decks available in New York City, Top of the Rock is probably my favorite.
There are three levels of indoor and outdoor observation decks that offer unobstructed 360-degree views of New York City. The last time I was up here, must have been fifteen years ago! During this visit, my brother and I got lucky, we were practically the only ones visiting the observatory.
This is definitely one of the top things to do in NYC!

Top Of The Rock Observatory Deck is located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112.
Where is Top of the Rock Restaurant?
Bar SixtyFive is on the 65th Floor and offers cocktails for guests 21 and over.
Is Top of the Rock free?
The cost of visiting Top of the Rock is detailed below, there are three types of tickets available.
- VIP tour: $125
- Express Pass: $75
- General admission: Adults $40, Seniors $38, Children (ages 6-12) $34, Children (5 and under) free.
What is CityPASS?
New York CityPASS gives you admission to 3 top attractions in New York City at a discount. You can purchase the CityPASS, and choose the attractions later. As Sunset is the most popular time to visit Top of the Rock, entries during designated sunset times are an additional $10 per ticket. To visit during sunset, purchase a regular admission ticket and select a sunset entry time online or at the Top of the Rock Box Office.

Walking around New York City during the holiday season is truly a magical experience. There’s no place like it! From the brilliant window displays along Fifth Avenue to the thousands of holiday lights at Rockefeller Center, there are all kinds of sights to be enjoyed in the city!
One of the best things to do this time of year is the Christmas Tree at the glamorous Lotte New York Palace. Here is my New York City Holiday Guide with a roadmap of spots to see, and of course The Lotte New York Palace’s Christmas tree is included.

Lotte New York Palace – Interesting Facts
- In 1882, financier Henry Villard commissioned the architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White to create six private brownstone townhouses surrounding a courtyard on Madison Avenue.
- The neo-Italian Renaissance residences became known as the Villard Houses.
- In 1974, developer Harry Helmsley proposed a 55-story hotel for the site of the Villard Houses to be called The Helmsley Palace Hotel.
- In 1981, The Helmsley Palace opened as the first luxury hotel in New York City.
- In 1992, the Sultan of Brunei purchased and restored it.
- As of 2011, the Lotte New York Palace is operated by Northwood Investors.

Isn’t this Christmas tree so pretty?! A few weekends ago, on a warmer-than-usual Sunday morning, we decided to go see the Lotte New York Palace’s Christmas Tree, and to our surprise, the courtyard’s gates were opening at that exact time.
My parents, siblings, and I stayed at this hotel’s Tower Suites during our wedding week so this brought back many lovely memories. Our wedding suite was on the 46th floor, overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, and the Hudson River. You can see a post about my wedding day here!
